Dr. Andrew Carlquist is a Registered Clinical Psychologist in Ontario specializing in first responders, military veterans, and other uniformed service personnel and front-line workers. Andrew completed his doctoral training at La Salle University in Philadelphia and trained in CBT at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Cognitive Therapy. He completed his pre- and post-doctoral training at the US Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System. His focus is on recovery from trauma and operational stress injuries, moral injury, resilience, bereavement and grief (especially after suicide), and health behaviour change. His clinical approach is empirically-informed, primarily cognitive-behavioural (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies. He is certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and has specialized training in Prolonged Exposure, CBT for insomnia, and CBT for chronic pain. Andrew emphasizes a person-centred approach with clients to identify strengths and areas for growth, develop an individualized understanding of problems and goals, and tailor solutions to fit a person’s unique life experiences.
