Our Story

Introducing Wayfound

The launch of Wayfound, formerly known as WGM Psychology, represents the culmination of a decade’s worth of growth and development in the mental health industry. WGM was founded in 1999 by my father, a clinical psychologist who spent his career working in community mental health prior to establishing WGM.  In fact, “WGM” are his initials: William Gordon McElheran.

I was proud to join my father at WGM, beginning in 2007, after I became a clinical psychologist myself.  My particular interest has always been on the intersection of issues of social justice and mental health, and I gathered particular experience working with first responders, a population of people who have historically been significantly marginalized relative to mental health care.

The WGM clinics and brand have grown in the past number of years, and we are now seen as recognized experts in the field of first responder and general mental health.  We have clinics across Canada and have developed a suite of proprietary products and interventions based on the experience we have gathered and research we have completed with our clients.

One of the things our experience has taught us though is that we are in the midst of a mental health epidemic in our country and around the world.  Rates of depression, anxiety disorders, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), addictions, and suicide rates are at an all-time high, with predictable negative impacts on Canadian families and communities.  There has never been a more important time to focus on issues of mental health than now.

Our transition to the Wayfound brand has been deliberate and intentional.  It is time to help those suffering from debilitating mental health conditions to find a way back to mental health and wellness, and to use innovation, science, and research to help us in that pursuit. We have a committed team of psychologists, administrators, business operations experts, and an advisory board with years of business development experience to help us.

We are so grateful and excited to introduce you to our team, our vision, and our offering.  Help us find a way to help those most in need.

Dr. Megan McElheran,

CEO and Chief Clinician
